With E-textbooks and online classes becoming increasingly popular with universities, it’s no surprise that the students at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) now have their own UCSD iPhone application. Based on the popularity of the iPhone, this could be the start of a healthy trend of iPhone apps for colleges across the nation.
The folks over at examiner.com take a deeper look at the application and it’s features:
To begin with, the app will offer information to UCSD students about athletic, courses and current faculty. The software also features an interactive campus map that will direct students to the classroom a course is taking place in. In addition, it also provides students with a way to call text or email instructors of their classes.
With a staggering 2000 downloads already and a sure increase in downloads once the fall semester begins, UCSD looks like they’ve made their mark. If the above features didn’t sell you already, school officials plan to expand the iPhone application program to include podcasts of in-class lectures.
