If you’re planning on buying your books from your University Book Store, Don’t Do It! Students have been buying their book from the University Book Store for as long as college has existed. The University Book Store charges way too much for textbooks and rarely takes the books back at the end of the year. It’s time to move on to a smarter, more economical model than buying expensive college textbooks.
Before you completely blow off this idea, hear me out. What if I told you that you could Save $500 a Year on Textbooks? How does free shipping and a 30-day “Any Reason” buyback guarantee sound. Whether you drop a class, the course syllabus changes or you decide you’re just not going to read that book, you can get a full refund. No questions asked. They will also buyback any old textbooks for a really good price.
On top of all that, for each book you “rent”, this company will plant a tree. In this article I will take you through the steps to rent books through Chegg.com – The number one website for Textbook Rentals.

The following scenario is based on purchasing books for classes at the University of Texas at Austin. There a good chance that your school will have a similar set up to find your textbook ISBN’s.
Set Up Your Account & Find ISBNs
First thing you want to do is set up an account at Chegg.com. This takes 2 minuets. Next you want to go to your University’s Book Store website to find your textbook ISBN’s.

Find your classes and their corresponding ISBN’s numbers.
Copy & Paste Your ISBN’s Into Chegg
Once you have your ISBN numbers, copy and paste them into Chegg’s book finder.

Notice how much I saved!
This is my last semester in college so I only needed two books. In the past I’ve spent almost $800 on books for a semester, buying from my University Book Store. If I had purchased at Chegg.com, I would have saved over $500 dollars!

Chegg is a great service. I got two of my books in the mail today actually. I think I ended up saving around $80 on these two books. They have very fast shipping as well.
Chegg is a very popular service but how long will textbook rental be around for now with the iPad on the market?
